So how did we get here?
Wrocław 2020:
Kultura Równości
Our story begins in Wrocław, in the memorable year of 2020. We met as members of the pride organisation Kultura Równości, helping in creating the 12th Wrocław Equality March. At the time, Aleks was studying human biology, whilst Marcin was finishing his bachelor’s degree in tourism and recreation.
Whilst working together on various equality projects, we got to know each other better and our acquaintance quickly turned into a friendship. Besides, Aleks had a cat (Lutzi), which only worked in his favour in Marcin’s eyes.
Wrocław 2021:
The beginning
Over time, innocent gestures (such as a box of raspberries – Marcin’s favourite), compliments and increasingly less innocent attempts at flirting made us realise that this was definitely more than just friendship.
And so, on 20th August 2021, during a very long balcony chat, we realised that we’d both like to give this friendship a chance to become something more.
It was time to call what we have “a relationship”.
Vienna 2022:
We’re moving out
In the spring of 2022, we decided on emigrating in search of a better life. So, with heavy hearts, we left our beloved Wrocław and the three of us (along with the cat) moved to Vienna in September of that same year. Marcin found his dream job at a travel agency, whilst Aleks began his Master’s degree in neurobiology.
Vienna:
Continued
After three years of living in Vienna, we moved into a flat that was a little bit more “our own”, and it has become our home. By the way – you’re very welcome to come and visit, we have a guest room and the commute to our place is very convenient. In summer, we offer picturesque cycling routes along the Danube and an island right in the middle of the city, where you can swim in this beautiful, blue river. In winter, on the other hand, awaiting are the famous Viennese Christmas markets and numerous museums – there’s something for everyone.
Wrocław 2025:
The proposal
Our proposal, which unexpectedly made headlines across Poland during the 17th Equality March in June 2025, was actually for all of you, where we announced to you that we had got engaged. The actual engagement took place six months earlier, on a Friday evening in December, on the sofa over dinner – perhaps less spectacular, but also completely unromantic.
To be honest, it all came about quite by chance – Marcin was bored at work and, whilst going through the calendar, noticed that our anniversary, 20th August, falls on a Friday in 2027. “So, what do you say we get married at the civil office then? We’ll have just the one date to remember, and the whole weekend to party?” Brilliant idea! It was only after a few minutes that we realised we were engaged. We then chose our engagement rings, which we’ve been proudly wearing ever since the proposal.
After all, where else would we get engaged if not at the event that brought us together!
Vienna + Silesia 2027:
Wedding time
It will be a great pleasure for us to welcome you to our wedding, which will mark the beginning of a new, formalised chapter in our life together. We want to celebrate this moment with you and manifest a wonderful future for us all!
